Peaceful, very serene.

Very nicely done string arrangement and composition. Very peaceful. I feel like I could fall asleep next to the one I love to this. It feels like I'm on the Titanic in Lord of the Rings (lol) I'm very impressed. I hear no flaws. 5/5 10/10

That wind instrument (i'll call it a contra flute) sounded really raspey and off pitch. The jumps in the vocal was unorganized. The piano was okay. The 4/4 waltz is very appreciated. From 1:24 on it was great! until 2:35 ish. cut the vocal and weird wind in the beginning and it would be a ten easily. (Love the samba) the voice does not work well with the strings at about 4:30. overall 4/5 8/10

paradoxphenomena responds:

Well said; thank you for the useful comments you made. This piece could have done with a remake but sadly i don't have the time though I wholeheartedly agree with the jumps in vocals and the flute did need more work but time was of the essence and I should perhaps not have rushed it and polished it better. I'm glad you took the time to listen to it and review it as you did.

its so hard not to seem biased

Beautiful. The trance mood with this lovely melody is so amazingly pure!! I want to fall in love to this song and have a glowstick at the same time!!! 1:24 was a chills moment. 1:53 nice breakdown. 2:31 something was a tad off. I know you were going for the chromatic buildup, but the rest of the chord should change too. THE PIANO ADDITION WAS GREAT!! 5/5 10/10

mjattie responds:

thanks :), Don't know what you mean with the chromatic buildup though.

hmmm

Good length. I was expecting more. It's very Herbie Hancock-ish (rockit) I can sense a celebration. Going on in here, but still, a little more emotion would've been nice. A few noices seemed out of place too, I would tell, but I don't know what to call that noise (like Mario going down a tube?) 3/5 7/10

Fuiste responds:

Eh, I kinda like that noise you're referring to. (It's a 3xosc, saw-saw-pulse) But I guess we'll agree to disagree. Still, I'm glad you liked the song, and I'm always grateful for reviews!

Peace.

daft punk would be proud

Very spacey, I think the percussion makes a very interesting beat. At about 1:10 an awkward chord appeared. Length is getting better. Loop is perfect. The love feeling in this though is hard to grasp for the v-day love theme. 4/5 8/10

nightsurfermusic responds:

Thank you good sir :)

nice synths

Nice synths and percussion. I love it! Very unique in this contest. I feel the anguish. Length is an issue though. Dynamics are effective. Nice fade out. Loop is okay. Bass is well done. It's a unique addition, and I like it. 4/5 8.5/10

nightsurfermusic responds:

Old song. :P

hmmm (by the way i'm judging)

reptitive bass line with basses. Good use of oriental sound. No use of dynamics. Length. Works well in loops. Lack of a climax. Addition of ocarina is nice. Overall its okay, nothing spectacular. Keep it up though, i can tell you just began. YOu have great potential.

FairSquare responds:

Thanks for the critical but honest review! :-)
And thanks for the compliment :P

hmmm

Use of syncopation is well thought of along with the additions of instruments throughout the piece. This time the ocarina seemed out of place. The snare could've been a bit more pushing. At about the 1:00 mark, the violin seems quite out of place in the piece. The ocarina sticks out unwelcomed in the piece. Doesn't work in loop. 3.5/5 7/10

FairSquare responds:

Thanks for the review!

quite good, u'll do fine in the competition.

The melody flows very well. The use of crescendos is evident along with suspension. It is very mellow. Love theme can be seen from a broken heart. 2:25 eighth note run in melody is refreshing to hear. 2:55 speed change made it able to refocus. Accelerando with eighth note run into a retardando into a suspension crescendo at end is quite good. Works well in loop 5/5 10/10

broove responds:

Crescendo? Retardando? Accelerando? What are you talkin' about?
I don't know much about music theory, just some very basic things.

But thanks for the positive review mate ;)

Very well done

I can't wait to compare this son to the rest of the competition. I'll be judging a little more harshly then. Very beautiful flute solo work with a very well done piano harmony. the transfer into the strings with the use of percussion crescendo was very well organized. the string orchestra was fantastic. the violin solo with the piano harmony was well constructed. the use of a refrain abcba pattern really allowed the listener to fully get the emotion with a perfect resolution to the piece. u may hear from me later on a maybe congrats from a top ten nomination by me. 5/5 10/10

SinJim responds:

Thanks for the review! Hopefully I'll make it up into the top 10, but the other entries are all really good as well. I'm glad you liked my piece, thanks for the review! More importantly, thanks for judging the contest.
