hmmm

Kinda short. I def. felt the love. Again great acoustic job. Like the crickets and heartbeats %uF04A Thought the piano could use some work. And were you guys speaking English? Anyway, it's a good song, but I think rose-coloured hindsight def. was the btr piece of the two. 4/5 8.5/10

curriemaster responds:

It was a bit short, sort of by design ans sort of because when I recorded the guitar with longer parts it didnt fit.

Basically this was my second submission and I wanted it to be very different from the first (Rose-Coloured Hindsight). I also wanted it to be very simple: simple instruments, simple arrangement and simple composition. As I said in the comments above I was kind of going for a duet sort of feel to try and describe the relationship between two people.

Its not English, its French...my girlfriend is whispering "Je t'aime toujours" = "I love you always" and "Ecoutez...la musique..." = "Listen...the music...". Im not sure if I executed the vocals perfectly tbh but I think theyre pretty good.

Personally I like listening to this on NG because I can leave it on repeat when surfing the interwebs...I find it really peaceful and of course my gf is whispering to me the whole time :P. Thanks again for the comments :)!

Muddy are you kidding?

Wow. Very soothing. Lovely job. Ever heard of Andy Mckee? I feel the happiness and love in this piece. Liked the shaker and bongo. Nice clarinet (I think) Chills moment at 1:43. Beautiful song def. perfect for this competition. This is why I love judging!! OOOO!! Nicely done futuristic effects at 2:20. Nice chorus at 2:50 ish. Def. a fav. Now. You'll do great in this comp. I'm sure of it. Simple melody but beautifully harmonized and great percussion. Kept my attention the whole time. Great piano breakdown too. Well done ending. 5/5 10/10

curriemaster responds:

Hey dude thanks very much for the great comments. Im not sure who are the judges for this comp but I guess its awesome to get comments like this from one.

Aye Im a big fan of Andy Mckee, he does some incredible percussion work at the same time as playing guitar and definitely has his own unique style. I appreciate the comparison!

The more I listen to this track the more I like it, I put a lot of work into it and hopefully that comes through. Thanks again for the review and Im looking forward to Saturday :).

i want my glowstick

(i think its a little intense to be trance, but o well) Nice beginning. Nice beat. Love the incorporation of techno with the strings. Beautifully done beat. I know techno doesn't focus on counter-point, but duel melodies is def. a turn-on. Nice clapping addition. I felt the love, def what this comp. Is about. A tad redundant, but the ending was well done with the bells fading out. (nice crowd feature in the beginning too.) 5/5 10/10 you'll be fine in this comp.

IndieDance responds:

=] awesome thanks.

nice effort for the baroque

Nice flutes, that's pretty much where the compliments end. The harpsichord wasn't well matched with the flute. The chords were redundant. Odd place for a fade out, I felt like the song was incomplete. Doesnt work too well in a loop. The trumpet was shadowed by the harpsichord. The drumset brought some interesting beats to it, but I felt like it shadowed the piece a bit. 3/5 6/10

Father-of-Death responds:

Yea,

I really don't like this song. I think I should have put a lot more effort into this. But hey, just gotta move on and learn from your mistakes.

Thanks for your review man.

lol

LMAO hilarious beginning. And what do you feel like? Okay now to get serious. Wait, what is a penicorn? Anyway, nice solo. I like the Jamaican accent. Nice symphonic addition. 9th symphony? O well, it worked. Lol this song made me def. laugh. One issue though, I found the synth flute to be awkward (if that what is was) The clapping I found to be weird. Nice description by the way. 4/5, 8.5/10 (rounds to a 9)

sorohanro responds:

Thanx for the review.
Penicorns... well, those are very unique kinds of unicorns living in the ArtForum and NG store ;)
Just do a search on Art Forum for penicorn.
As for the soprano saxophone, well, couldn't get Kenny G on the phone on recording day, so I used a synth one... don't tell anyone please ;)
The ending (with clapping) is a quote from Beatles' song "
All You Need Is Love", originally in the song there is clapping, so I tried to recreate this.

This is why I love being a judge.

You make my job so easy. I LOVE IT!!! Beautiful string additions. OMG TENOR SAX!!!! please listen to spake lion by yoko kanno. Nice clarinet use too. As always the piano is stunning. Do you have this published? !!! Nice mood change at 2:35. Beautiful triplets. OMG i love it. It's to look at this professionally, because nothing is wrong with it. 5/5 10/10

BlazingDragon responds:

I WISH I got something like this published. That would be amazing....Maybe one day.

There were actually no clarinets in this piece. It was just an oboe and sax, though the sound quality is kind of cheapy due to the free samples. Maybe we'll redo this with better samples some time.

Thank you for the great review!

nice

I want to make love to somebody after listening to this. Love the bass line. Nice brass usage. I got no beefs with this. Won't hear me bitch in this. 5/5 10/10

blackattackbitch responds:

Hehe, that was my goal all along, to make you want to make love. Rofl =D

Thanks for the review, my bad that it took me forever to see it tho.

.............

Uh interesting beginning I guess? The piano def. made up for it. The strings were a great addition too. The percussion though...I'm not sure if it fit the song that well. I think it would sound better without it. 3/5 6/10

Tamadrum responds:

Thanks for the constructive critisism man. I appreciate it.

hmm

The bass drum seemed scattered. The synth wasn't bad. (What did the dude say?) At about 1:30 the electro music got interesting. The percussion I thought could use some work. Some awkward breaks happened too. The piano sounded great though. 3/5 7/10

Quarl responds:

your mom is awkward.

hmmm

Hmmmm . I'm on border hear, I hear no flaws, but it's very safe. A little bland. The piece seemed very predictable too. It seemed very bland. Sorry dude. 4/5 8.5/10

MusicalRocky responds:

Lol ok.

Although, bland and predictable would've perhaps been running a more expected chord progression with the main theme, having a B theme in the relative minor, and then bringing back the original melody in the home key with just a few changes and then resolving. All of which I tried to avoid.

i'm an aspiring composer so if anyone listens to my music, please feel free to write a review or comment
